Labour dept resumes hospitality blitz

Pretoria - The Department of Labour is expected to resume its inspections in the hospitality sector this week.

"We will leave no stone unturned as we go through the industry with a fine tooth comb like we did with restaurants during inspections at shopping malls late last year," said the department's executive manager in the inspection and enforcement division, Zakes Mogwatlhe.

The inspections, which are aimed at ensuring compliance with labour laws, will continue tomorrow with inspectors visiting several hotels and restaurants countrywide.

Last October, the department carried out inspections at shopping malls that mainly targeted restaurants.
