Former Limpopo MEC to get Special Provincial Official Funeral

Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma has declared the funeral of former Limpopo MEC for Public Works, Safety and Security, George Phadagi, as a Special Provincial Official Funeral.

Zuma's office said on Friday that the President had also authorised that the National Flag fly at half-mast in the Limpopo Province on the day of the funeral.

The Special Provincial Official Funeral is reserved for distinguished persons as decided by the President of the Republic.

Phadagi died on Sunday at the age of 60. The details of the funeral are yet to be communicated by the Limpopo Provincial Government.

He served as a member of the Executive Council in Limpopo, leading the Department of Public Works and later the Department of Safety and Security. Phadagi also served as a Premier's Political and Traditional Affairs Advisor.
