Pretoria - The bodies of a mother and her six-month old son, who were swept away by flash floods in Phomolong near Tembisa, were recovered yesterday.

The 34-year-old woman and her son went missing on Monday.

The Ekurhuleni Emergency Services and the South African Police Services Search and Rescue Team found the bodies 4km away in Esangweni.

The two were seen swept away by the boy's father and two siblings.

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality has in the meantime relocated other families that were threatened by the flooding to the Phomolong Clinic, Community Hall and the local youth centre as an interim measure.
