SA to host African Youth Championship

Friday, March 18, 2011

Pretoria - The ongoing political unrest in Libya has forced the executive committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to give South Africa rights to host the African Youth Championship tournament.

The South African Football Association (Safa) released a statement confirming that the Youth Championship will be played in the country.

Safa has been in a series of discussions with CAF following the continuing uprisings in the North African country, which was originally given the rights to host the tournament on 18 March.

The tournament will run from 17 April to 2 May. Safa and CAF are yet to announce further details of the tournament.
