Pretoria - The African Union (AU) on Tuesday condemned the previous day's terrorist attack in Kenya.
In a statement, Chairperson of the Commission, Jean Ping, said the AU learnt with shock and sadness that innocent civilians were killed and wounded in a bomb blast at a Nairobi bus station on Monday.
Three people were killed and 39 injured when a bomb exploded at a bus station in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, following warnings of attacks by Islamist militants.
Passengers were walking through a security checkpoint when a bag exploded as it was about to be loaded on to a coach travelling to Kampala, in neighbouring Uganda.
The AU condemned this, saying it is a "cowardly terrorist attack, which cannot be justified under any circumstances."
Ping reaffirmed the determination of the African bloc to combat terrorism and to continue to support the AU peacekeeping mission in Somalia.
