Pretoria - South Africa will add its voice to growing global concerns on climate change, with Home Affairs Minister Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma expected to address an international meeting on the issue on Friday.

Dlamini Zuma will speak at the meeting of the Socialist International Commission for a Sustainable World Society on Climate Change in Mexico.

The meeting is expected to deliberate on a social democratic perspective on climate change with a view to building a better future for a sustainable world society and comes ahead of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

"Minister Dlamini Zuma's participation in Socialist International meetings comes within the context of South Africa's commitment to strengthen relations with other like-minded political formations around the globe with a view to achieving a just and sustainable system of global political and economic governance," the Department of Home Affairs said.

The minister is expected to return to South Africa on Tuesday.
