Minister to attend IAEA conference

Pretoria - Minister of Energy, Dipuo Peters, is to attend the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Annual General Conference in Vienna, Austria this week.

The minister will deliver a national statement outlining the recent developments and progress made in the South African nuclear sector. She is also expected to reiterate support for the agency's initiatives in the fields of nuclear science and technology programme.

The AIEA is an intergovernmental organisation that serves as a centre for nuclear cooperation. The objective of the IAEA is to promote the safe, secure, and the peaceful uses of nuclear energy.

Peters will be accompanied by senior departmental officials and key stakeholders in the nuclear sector from South Africa.
