During President Ramaphosa’s recent working visit to the USA on the invitation of President Trump, AfriForum had definitely wished for a different treatment of our President or at the least a different outcome of the meeting. However, wishes are not horse or else beggars will be riding.

NW Finance MEC steps in as Acting Premier

North West Premier Lazarus Kagiso Mokgosi has appointed MEC for Finance, Kenetswe Mosenogi, as Acting Premier from 24 May to 8 June 2025.

According to the Premier’s Office, Mokgosi is currently on leave, and Mosenogi will assume all responsibilities associated with the role during this period, in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution.

No land expropriation since the Bill signed into law

The Minister of Land Reform and Rural Development, Mzwanele Nyhontso, has reiterated that there has been no land expropriation in South Africa since the implementation of the Land Expropriation legislation in January 2025. 

In addition, the Minister confirmed that there is currently no land expropriation occurring on private properties, including farms.

“All land acquired for land restitution and redistribution purposes by government is purchased through a fair, transparent, and legal process. 

WC Education urges parents to check if the login details are correct for online admissions

The Western Cape Department of Education (WCDE) is urging parents to prepare their login information for the online admissions system ahead of the offers being made.

“There is always a flurry of excitement, nerves, and anticipation on this date, and not being able to log in because of a forgotten password can be extremely frustrating,” the statement read. 

The admissions window for Grade R, 1, or 8 in 2026 closed on 15 April 2025. Since then, schools have been implementing their admission policies to select successful candidates.
