Zuma names new IMC members

Pretoria - Chief of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee Danny Jordaan is among the new members of the International Marketing Council Board (IMC) announced by President Jacob Zuma.

The IMC is, among other things, responsible for the marketing of Brand SA.

Other members include Sandile Zungu, Happy Ntshingila, Group Executive for Marketing and Communication at ABSA, Anitha Soni, Deputy Chairperson of the Tourism BEE Charter Council, Judy Nxasana, Chief Executive Officer and Chairperson of Mbhekani Health and Wellbeing and Welcome Msomi, an internationally acclaimed playwright, choreographer and director.

Also on the board are Wayne Morris, Zizi Kodwa and Lucas Radebe, SA Tourism's 2010 Brand Ambassador and accomplished soccer player.

Government spokesperson Themba Maseko and Director General of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation Dr Ayanda Ntsaluba, will both represent the government in the board.

It is expected to play a very crucial role in marketing the country ahead of the soccer World Cup next year.

Zuma has extended his best wishes to the new members and wished them well on their duties of promoting the country.

"This council plays an invaluable role in promoting South Africa abroad, providing the international community with a comprehensive picture of our country, its people and its opportunities," he said
