Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma has congratulated the President of the Republic of Liberia, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, on her being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2011.

"President Sirleaf is a worthy recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize given her dedication and commitment not only to women's emancipation, but also to peace, stability and prosperity in Liberia," said Zuma in a statement.

President Sirleaf was jointly awarded the Nobel Peace Prize together with two other remarkable women, Leymah Gbowee and Tawakkul Karman, for their non-violent struggle for the safety of women and for women's rights to full participation in peace-building work.
