Pretoria - The Department of Water and Sanitation will launch the Greater Eston Regional Water Supply Project to alleviate the water supply backlog in the rural areas of UMgungundlovu.
The Greater Eston Regional Water Supply project is located in the UMgungundlovu District Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal, and will serve people in Mkhambathini and Richmond Local Municipalities.
Funded by the Department of Water and Sanitation through the Regional Bulk Infrastructure Grant (RBIG), the Greater Eston Bulk Water Supply project will supply potable water to 41 240 people.
The scheme covers four wards in the Mkhambathini Local Municipality and two wards in the Richmond Local Municipality.
The department, together with Umgeni Water and UMgungundlovu District Municipality, will launch the project on Thursday at Ngilanyoni Sports Ground in Mkhambathini. – SAnews.gov.za
