The deadline for the report of the VAT panel has been extended to 6 August 2018.
The panel, which was set up to review the current list of value added tax (VAT) zero-rated items, was initially expected to submit its report today.
However, the chair of the panel, Professor Ingrid Woolard, requested an extension from the Minister of Finance, Nhlanhla Nene.
“The Minister has agreed to extend the deadline from 31 July 2018 to 6 August 2018. The report will be made public soon thereafter,” said Treasury on Tuesday evening.
A VAT increase from 14% to 15% took effect from 1 April 2018. – SAnews.gov.za
