The Gauteng Department of Education has confirmed that two learners have died in an accident while traveling to school on Wednesday.

The department has expressed shock and sadness over the incident, which occurred at Fifth and Sixth Street in Cloverdene in Benoni. The two learners died on the scene.

“One learner was in Grade 9 at Petit High School, whilst the other learner in Grade 4 at Spark Primary School.  It is believed the driver of the Toyota Venture collided into a car before rolling several times.
