Truck driver remanded in custody

Pretoria - The truck driver involved in the fatal crash, in which Public Service and Administration Minister Collins Chabane, his driver and a bodyguard died, has been remanded in custody by the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court.

A sobbing Amukelani Rikhotso was not asked to plead when his culpable homicide case was postponed to April 6, a date which the court is likely to change since Monday, 6 April is public holiday.

The VW Touareg carrying Minister Chabane crashed into the truck that was reportedly making a U-turn on the N1 highway outside Polokwane in the early hours of Sunday morning, killing Minister Chabane, Sergeants Lesiba Sekele and Lawrence Lentsoane instantly. - SAnews.gov.za
