Sunday, February 17, 2013

Pretoria-Tourism Minister Marthinus van Schalkwyk is set to open the Meetings Africa, the biggest business events exhibition on the continent.

Van Schalkwyk will officially open the exhibition, which takes place at the Sandton Convention Centre, on Tuesday.

The minister will speak to the increasingly important role business events play in regional economic growth and job creation.

“He will also announce South Africa’s impressive bidding successes and give details about the number of large global business events South Africa will host in the next few years,” said the Tourism Department.

Meetings Africa is the only business events trade show (that covers meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) in Southern Africa, aimed at profiling and showcasing the capabilities, services and products South Africa offers the industry.

The exhibition will kick off tomorrow and conclude on Wednesday.

The exhibition is expected to attract over 50 African association buyers, 200 international hosted buyers and 200 local corporate and government buyers.-SAnews.gov.za
