Durban - The music line-up at the Moses Mabhida Stadium features top notch artists for the Heritage Day programme.

Debra Fraser, Theo Kgosinkwe, Steve Hofmeyer, Abigail Khubeka, Chomee, Danny K and PJ Powers are among the performing artists.

BuaNews caught up with legendary South African artist PJ Powers. Having 15 albums during her career, the Durban born star, still remains happy to be performing in the country.

"I am so thrilled. My support of the community has been evident throughout the years. I am here because I support my country and my heritage," said a vibrant Powers.

Powers calls herself a "Zulu girl" and is looking forward to performing in a 15-minute ensemble with some of the other top musicians.

"We are paying tribute to Lucky Dube today. It's going to be a wonderful tribute with great messages - we come together as one - being one of them," added powers.

The singer, who was vocal during the apartheid days, said South Africans have so much to be proud of. "We managed to adopt a first world system - if we look at how we hosted the World Cup, without losing ourselves. When you lose yourself, you lose everything," said Powers.

She said that she is very happy to come from this continent and will not leave.

Powers' message to South Africans on Heritage Day is: "Sometimes the most powerful conversation or statement is a silent one. As a nation we are quite hot headed. We speak without thinking".

"We are not perfect, and no one is in this world. We are all a work in progress. Therefore we must learn patience. (Our country is) just 16-years-old, like a teenager. We need to look at what we achieved and be proud of that," said Powers.
