The Department of Transport, together with the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC), will also launch the Global Road Safety Week on 4 May in Soweto.

The event will take the form of a “pedestrian safety” walk, which will begin at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Bridge (Chris Hani Road) at 7am.

It will wrap up at the Nike Sport Centre in Soweto, where the official launch will take place.

Addressing the media during a post Cabinet briefing, Minister in the Presidency for Performance Monitoring and Evaluation, Collins Chabane, called on motorists and pedestrians to be more responsible, vigilant and cautious on the roads.
