Pretoria - Eskom says the risk of load-shedding remains following load-shedding from last night.
This after the power utility implemented stage one load-shedding from 5pm until 9:30pm on Tuesday.
“The system will continue to be under severe pressure for the rest of the week, and the risk of load shedding remains,” said Eskom early on Wednesday morning.
Earlier on Tuesday, Eskom announced that it did not implement load-shedding as it had said earlier due to demand for electricity decreasing.
The entity appealed to all electricity users to switch off geysers, air conditioners, pool pumps and all non-essential appliances throughout the day, which will reduce electricity demand.
“We would like to thank all the customers who responded to our call and reduced their energy consumption, which helps reduce the severity of load shedding. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience to affected customers.”
Commercial customers, particularly shopping centres and office blocks, can make a big difference by switching off non-essential lights and not leaving office equipment such as photocopiers and computers in standby mode after hours. – SAnews.gov.za
