Reservists die in police station shooting

Pretoria - Two police reservists have died after a shooting incident at the Akasia Police Station in Pretoria on Wednesday.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said a male police reservist shot and killed a female reservist before turning the gun on himself. They both died instantly. A member of the public, who was in the office where the incident occurred, was also shot and wounded in the arm.

It is alleged that the female reservist complained that she was being intimidated by her fellow reservist. When they reported for duty, the male police reservist was not placed on duty as the allegations against him were being investigated.

"The police reservist allegedly grabbed a firearm from another police reservist and went back to the office where he fired several shots. He also killed himself in the process," Dlamini said.

Police are now investigating a case or murder, attempted murder and an inquest docket has been opened. - BuaNews
