The Free State province's economy is set for a major boost, with the launch of a multibillion rand project aimed at stimulating investment and industrialisation.
President Cyril Ramaphosa will officiate the launch the R100 billion Free State Catalytic Investment and Industrialisation Project in Maluti-a-Phofung Local Municipality on Friday.
“The project will mobilise automotive assembly, electric mobility technologies, components, energy systems, logistics, skills and local suppliers,” the Presidency said in a statement on Wednesday.
The launch will be held at the Phuthaditjhaba Multipurpose Centre in QwaQwa.
“The project represents an investment of approximately R100 billion and is expected to contribute to manufacturing, industrialisation, green economy development and the energy transition, while creating approximately 6 500 permanent jobs,” said the Presidency.
The launch will be hosted by Free State Premier MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae, the Maluti-a-Phofung Local Municipality and Chinese investors, Joy Long-YJC. – SAnews.gov.za
