Probe underway after airport heist

Pretoria - The Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) says it is working closely with law enforcement agencies to arrest those behind the armed robbery at OR Tambo International Airport.

The armed robbery occurred on Tuesday evening at approximately 19h45, ACSA said.

It’s understood a gang made its way into the airport and stole an undisclosed amount of money from a South African Airways plane.

No shots were fired and no injuries have been reported.

“South African Police Service (SAPS) and Airports Company South Africa is working closely with other law enforcement agencies to apprehend the suspects. The investigation is at an early stage. "
