President Zuma meets Brazilian football leaders

Sao Paulo - President Jacob Zuma today met with Brazilian football bosses to exchange ideas on the preparations for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

According to the Presidency, Zuma met with Paulista Football Federation, Dr Marco Polo Del Nero as well as the Vice President of the Brazil Football Federation, Jose Maria Marin ahead of his meeting with President Lula da Silva.

Zuma emphasized "the importance of sharing expertise on the hosting of such important games."

Brazil is anticipated to host the next FIFA World Cup in 2014 as well as the Olympics in 2016, and it is essential for the two countries to exchange ideas to ensure that they host successful events.

Brazil had committed to helping South Africa ensure that 2010 was a successful world spectacle on behalf of Africa and the South.

During his visit, the President is also expected to meet with the Governor of Sao Paulo, Jose Serra and to address a Business Roundtable where almost 100 South African and Brazilian Business Executives and Members of the World Trade Centre Business Club would be participating.
