President Zuma did not attend Cabinet

Friday, September 2, 2016

Pretoria – The Presidency has moved to clarify some in accuracies in a report in today's Business Day and on the Times Media group online entitled "Cabinet to seek judicial inquiry into banks’ moves against the Guptas”.

The article reported that President Jacob Zuma "unexpectedly" returned to South Africa to attend the Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday.

“The President did not attend the Cabinet meeting as he was in Swaziland attending the 36th Ordinary SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government.

“In addition, this week's Cabinet meeting was chaired by Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa and not by the Minister in the Presidency responsible for Women, Ms Susan Shabangu, as was reported by Business Day and Times Media,” said the Presidency. – SAnews.gov.za
