Pretoria - City Power says it hopes to restore power to several suburbs in Johannesburg later today, after a massive power outage at around 6pm on Wednesday evening.
Many suburbs including Norwood, Melrose and Rosebank as well as parts of Houghton have been left without power since last night, leading to disruptions in traffic this morning.
City Power spokesperson Louis Pieterse said on Thursday morning: "A preliminary investigation revealed that the medium voltage cable at the Cydna substation faulted causing damage to cables in the area."
He said that technicians had been busy all night trying to resolve the problem. "We're likely to be busy all day today too," he explained. - BuaNews
