Pistorius in court for bail hearing

Pretoria - Paralympian Oscar Pistorius has arrived at the Pretoria Magistrates Court, where he will appear for a bail hearing into the alleged murder of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.

Pistorius was arrested last Thursday, following the death of his girlfriend, Steenkamp, who was shot dead at his home in the exclusive Silver Woods Country Estate, east of Pretoria.

On Friday, he made a brief appearance in court, where he was charged with murder. He spent the weekend at the Brooklyn Police Station.

Pistorius formed part of Team South Africa’s Paralympic team that notched up 29 medals at last year’s London Paralympics. In 2007, Pistorius, who is a double amputee, took part in his first international competition for able-bodied athletes.

Meanwhile, Steenkamp's family will today hold a private funeral ceremony in her home town of Port Elizabeth. The ceremony is expected to get underway at 11am. – SAnews.gov.za
