Petrol price to drop next week

Pretoria - The petrol price will decrease by between 13 and 15 cents as of next week, said the Energy Department on Thursday.

As of 2 January, a litre of 93 ULP will fall by 13 cents and that of 95 ULP will fall by 15 cents. 

A litre of 95 ULP in Gauteng will now cost R11.86 a litre, while at the coast it will cost R11.51 per litre. 

The price of a litre of Diesel 0.05% Sulphur is set to decrease by 27.58 cents a litre, while that of 
Diesel 0.005% Sulphur will cost 28.58 cents less.

Illuminating paraffin wholesale will fall by 17 cents and Illuminating Paraffin (SMNRP) is to increase by 23 cents.

"The international product prices of petrol increased slightly by 2.21cents a litre, while that of diesel and illuminating paraffin declined by 10 cents a litre and 6 cents a litre respectively.

"The strengthening of the rand against the US dollar decreased the contribution to the basic fuels price on petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin by 11 cents a litre; 11.71 cents a litre and 11.70 cents a litre respectively," said the Energy Department. - SAnews.gov.za
