Parole board considers Pistorius case

Friday, October 9, 2015

Pretoria - The Kgosi Mampuru II Correctional Supervision and Parole Board (CSPB) is sitting today to reconsider the case of Oscar Pistorius's placement under correctional supervision.

“The autonomous CSPB of Kgosi Mampuru II is expected to consider all issues raised by the Parole Review Board and make a decision, which will be communicated accordingly,” the Department of Correctional Services spokesperson Manelisi Wolela said.

Wolela could not speculate or predict the outcomes of today's meeting of the parole board.

The sitting follows the setting aside by the Parole Review Board of the CSPB's 5 June 2015 decision to place Oscar Pistorius under correctional supervision with effect from 21 August 2015.

The call for the review of the decision was submitted by Justice and Correctional Supervision Minister Michael Masutha on the grounds that the decision was taken prematurely and contrary to the Correctional Services Act. –
