Parliament abuzz ahead of SONA

Cape Town – As the excitement continues to build ahead of the State of the Nation Address (SONA), general workers and media personnel are setting up temporary structures around the Parliamentary Precinct in preparation for the big day.

President Jacob Zuma is scheduled to arrive at the gates of the National Assembly after 5pm on Thursday ahead of his speech at 7pm.

Media houses that have been accredited to cover the SONA event are setting up temporary scaffolding along the route, where a red carpet will be rolled out for the President and all the VIP guests that have been invited to the National Assembly gallery.

Temporary road closures will take effect from 6am on Thursday, until the main road closures from 5pm. – SAnews.gov.za
