NYDA maintains clean audit

Thursday, October 6, 2016

Pretoria – The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) has achieved clean audits for two financial years.

The NYDA achieved its first ever clean audit in the 2014/15 financial year which it continued to maintain in 2015/16.

The agency has further achieved its highest performance ever since its inception for the past financial year.

NYDA CEO Khathu Ramukumba said the agency will always remember the year 2015/2016 as the year in which the NYDA took giant strides as a public entity of the government of South Africa.

“Bold steps were taken that will forever shape how this institution is seen into the future, a legacy of solid performance grounded by sound governance,” said Ramukumba during a media briefing held on Wednesday at the agency’s branch in Tshwane.

Ramukumba attributed this improvement to the turnaround strategy that has been adopted by the agency and the organisational realignment process that took place recently, as well as the shift in focus on areas of service to better respond to needs of the youth of South Africa.

Ramukumba announced that the agency would be launching the NYDA Mobile App, as a means of further enabling the youth to access the agency’s products and services.

“The NYDA understands the fact that young people have a need to be connected 24/7. We will also be turning all NYDA branches to WiFi hotspots. This is so to enable young people who visit our branches the ability to even use their own devices to apply for opportunities, while waiting to use our internet cafes or waiting to be attended to at the branch,” he said.

Deputy Minister in the Presidency for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Buti Manamela, commended the NYDA for maintaining the clean audit, noting that for government a cause for celebration is the achievement of its highest performance, ever.

“Since its establishment the NYDA has reached the highest performance of 96%. This simply means that the NYDA has performed optimally on its mandate. It ultimately means that more lives of young lives have been transformed for the better through its products and service of the NYDA,” Deputy Minister Manamela said. – SAnews.gov.za
