Noise for the boys!

Wednesday, June 9, 2010

Pretoria - South Africans all over the country are trumpeting to the world that they stand united behind their national squad ahead of the kick-off to the biggest sporting party ever.

In dramatic fashion, South Africans everywhere are making large showings on the streets, decked out in their regalia, blowing their vuvuzelas and honking their hooters.

The atmosphere in the country is electric - and a reflection of what is to be expected when the largest football spectacle ever kicks-off on our shores on Friday.

Thousands of proudly South African residents have abandoned their jobs and instead are on the streets showing support for their boys in green and yellow.

In Sandton, residents are forming a human chain near the Southern Sun Hotel Grayston - where Bafana Bafana is staying. The upmarket suburb has been brought to a stand still as the spirit of unity pours onto the streets as part of the United We Shall Stand for Bafana Campaign.

The Bafana Bafana squad, will in the next few minutes in an open top bus, tour the area, giving their fans one last glimpse of them before they take centre stage when they square up against Mexico in the first match of the World Cup on Friday.

The campaign is an initiative of Southern Sun, Primedia Broadcasting and Supersport.
