No load shedding taking place

Pretoria – There is currently no load shedding taking place, says Eskom.

“The power system is currently constrained but stable, and this will enable Eskom to perform maintenance without load shedding,” Eskom said on Friday.

The power utility has appealed to its customers to continue to reduce electricity usage throughout the day but to be aware of the need to save more during the peak periods from 6am to 10am and 5pm to 9pm.

“As we are currently experiencing cold weather conditions across the country, we urge electricity users to consider energy efficient ways of keeping warm,” Eskom said.

Commercial customers such as shopping centres and office blocks have been asked to switch off non-essential lights and not to leave office equipment such as photocopiers and computers in standby mode after hours. – SAnews.gov.za
