No accreditation for public for historic Memorial Service

Pretoria – Government says members of the public do not need to be accredited to attend the historic Memorial Service for the late former President Nelson Mandela, at the FNB Stadium on Tuesday.

The public will also not need to get accreditation for the viewing of Madiba’s body at the Union Buildings during the lying in state.

In a statement, Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) said government had arranged free public transport and park and ride facilities to accommodate mourners and to ensure they are able to get to the stadiums on time.

It advised the public to arrive at the park and ride facilities by 5am.

No cars will be allowed near FNB Stadium and there will be road closures in place from Monday.
