Pretoria - Foodstuffs manufacturers from around the world are now compelled to adapt their labelling accordingly in line with the new food labelling regulations.

The Department of Health has published the new food labelling regulations aimed at controlling the labelling of food stuffs.

The new regulations are part of the department's mandate to protect consumers against false and sometimes dangerous labelling of food products.

"These regulations are aimed at ensuring that consumers have access to properly and accurately labelled foodstuffs to help them in making informed choices," the department said on Tuesday.

The regulations also provide clear guidelines on do's and don'ts regarding the information provided on the labels and advertisement of foodstuffs.
