NDP to celebrate 5th anniversary

Minister in the Presidency for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Jeff Radebe, will on Thursday brief media in Cape Town on the 5th anniversary of the adoption of the National Development Plan (NDP).

Minister Radebe, who is also the Chairperson of the National Planning Commission, is expected to outline progress in the implementation of the NDP, challenges thereof, as well as highlight intervention plans to accelerate the implementation of the NDP.

Minister Radebe will also outline government activities that are aimed at marking the 5th anniversary of the NDP.

The NDP is South Africa’s overarching plan and the blueprint for the work that needs to be done to achieve a prosperous society. It was adopted by all parties represented in the National Assembly in 2012.

The objective of the NDP is to create a better and more prosperous South Africa by 2030. Its core priorities are to eradicate poverty and reduce inequality and unemployment by 2030.

The Department of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation has been entrusted with the responsibility to oversee the implementation of the NDP Vision 2030. - SAnews.gov.za
