Pretoria – Parents and learners in the Ngqeleni village in the Eastern Cape have expressed their appreciation following the official handing over of the Zingisile Primary School.

The Minister for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Lechesa Tsenoli, handed over the modern school to the community on Friday.

“We want to see success for our kids. Schools of this standard will make our children achieve more in future as a good foundation phase shall have been built,” said the minister at the event.

“The community here should make it a point that the school remains a safe and secure learning environment.” He added that local crèches should feed into the primary school.

The school was built as part of the Department of Education’s Accelerated Schools Infrastructure Delivery Initiative (ASIDI) which has seen more than 50 schools being built around the country.

ASIDI is a national programme which aims to eradicate all mud schools and inappropriate structures.

The Zingisile Primary School is the 38th school to be built in the OR Tambo District Municipality.

Minister Tsenoli said modern schools such as Zingisile will encourage better education amongst African children who are the architects of the future economy of the country.

“This is better life for all. Education is one of the priorities of our government and we have to make sure it is provided for our children,” he said. – SAnews.gov.za
