Minister refutes R4.5m kickback claims

Sunday, June 10, 2018

Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister, Zweli Mkhize, has described allegations published by the Sunday Times newspaper about a R4.5 million ‘kickback’ as ridiculous and a malicious fabrication.

According to the newspaper, Mkhize is allegedly seeking a R4.5 million kickback or facilitation fee due to a loan granted to a company called Afric Oil by the Public Investment Corporation.

‘’I have never facilitated the said loan negotiations nor have I sought any ‘facilitation fee’ from the said company.

“It is extremely unacceptable and mischievous for my name to be dragged into a matter that I have nothing to do with in this manner,’’ the Minister said.

He added that he was seeking legal advice. – SAnews.gov.za
