Saturday, April 14, 2018

Minister for Public Service and Administration Ayanda Dlodlo has met with the leadership of the unions that are involved in the public service wage negotiations.

The meeting between Minister Dlodlo and the unions, Cosatu and the Independent Labour Caucus, on Friday follows concerns that government was dragging its feet to conclude the wage talks.

The Minister said government is committed to the process and would like to conclude the talks speedily with a settlement that is acceptable to all parties. "The meeting with the union leaders demonstrates our commitment to finding a viable outcome for both the employer, unions and the South African public," she said.

The parties all agreed that the talks must proceed and they committed themselves to the goal of finding a workable outcome for both sides.

"We have agreed with the unions that talks must proceed apace and that the PSCBC will commence on Tuesday, 17 April 2018," the Minister said.

Minister Dlodlo called on public servants and the public to be patient with the process. “We are much closer to each other now in terms of the issues on the table and we appeal for patience from all concerned in this regard," she said. – SAnews.gov.za
