Sunday, October 20, 2013

Pretoria – The new School of Government, aimed at improving capacity in the public service, is expected to be launched by the Public Service and Administration Minister Lindiwe Sisulu next week.

The new School of Government will replace the current training institution for public servants, the Public Administration and Leadership Management Academy (PALAMA).

It will provide practical training programmes to public servants in order to improve skills and service delivery in the public service.

The school will be funded using funds from the Public Service Sector Education and Training Authority (PSeta) and from skills development levies drawn from the payrolls of department.

In her Budget Vote in May, Sisulu said the school would boost the public sector’s performance and also serve as an incubator of ideas and a catalyst for reform and modernisation of the public service. – SAnews.gov.za
