MEC appeals for calm in Letlhabile

Pretoria – The North West Acting Local Government and Traditional Affairs MEC, Paul Sebegoe, has appealed to residents of Letlhabile near Brits to refrain from engaging in violent activities, destroying public amenities and barricading roads.

Sebegoe’s appeals calm after residents embarked on an illegal service delivery protest over poor water quality.

“While we understand that the community might be angry, government has got platforms which they can use to raise their concerns. In the meantime, we would like to appeal to members of the community to exercise patience and restraint,” he said.

The MEC said his department would dispatch a rapid response team to the area to meet with all the relevant stakeholders to find a lasting solution to the issues raised. - SAnews.gov.za
