Pretoria - The Gauteng Legislature has elected David Makhura as Premier, Judge President Dunston Mlambo announced on Wednesday.
Makhura, who served as the African National Congress (ANC) provincial secretary-general in Gauteng - replaces former Premier Nomvula Mokonyane.
He was elected unopposed by the legislature.
Makhura was sworn in at the provincial legislature, together with other members of the legislature.
This official swearing-in takes place every five years, each time a new legislative term commences after the national democratic elections. – SAnews.gov.za
