Pretoria – Former President Nelson Mandela’s condition remains critical but stable at the Pretoria hospital where he is receiving treatment for a recurring lung infection.

“Madiba is still in hospital in Pretoria, and remains in a critical but stable condition. At times his condition becomes unstable, but he responds to medical interventions,” said the Presidency in a statement on Saturday morning.

Madiba was admitted to the Medi-Clinic in Pretoria on 8 June. He spent his 95th birthday there last month.

The Presidency said it had noted incorrect media reports that the former statesman had been discharged from hospital. – SAnews.gov.za
