Load shedding implemented

Thursday, August 6, 2015

Pretoria - Eskom is currently implementing load shedding due to an increase in the demand for electricity and a shortage of generation capacity.

“Due to increased electricity demand and a shortage of generation capacity due to power station units being on maintenance, Eskom has implemented stage 1 load shedding and this is likely to continue until 10pm this evening,” said Eskom on Thursday.

The power utility assured customers that load shedding is implemented as a necessary measure to protect the power system and to ensure that maintenance is carried out in order to guarantee that the supply of electricity can be maintained in the long term.

Eskom has urged electricity users to consider energy efficient ways of keeping warm as the cold weather continues.

Load shedding schedules are available on http://loadshedding.eskom.co.za for Eskom customers. Customers can also contact its customer call centre on 0860 037 566.
