Pretoria - Today is the last day for learners who qualify for supplementary exams to register to write the exams that will take place between February and March 2013.
Exact dates for the examinations can be obtained at the learner's school. However learners are advised to contact their schools to find out at which examination centre they will write the exams - and not assume they will write in their schools.
In assisting learners to improve their performance, the Gauteng Education Department has designed a programme to help learners and urged them to register for free preparatory classes.
The programme, which will offer classes for various subjects, will be offered on Saturdays and Sundays over a four week period from the 2nd February to 24th February 2013 at different venues in the province.
The classes will be offered during weekends in February and will cover subjects like Mathematics, Mathematical Literacy, Physical Science, Life Sciences, Accounting, Economics, Business Studies, Geography and History. They will be run by highly competent specialist teachers.
The tuition programme is free of charge but learners who wish to attend must complete a registration form available at Sci-Bono Discovery Centre in Newtown, as well as the Gauteng Department of Education website.
In addition to the weekend time table The Sci-Bono Discovery Centre has set up a weekly programme where learners can study Mathematics, Physical Science, Accounting and Life Science daily with the help of subject specialists.
This will take place from Monday 4 February to Friday 22 February and will run from 2pm to 5pm.
Learners can visit www.gauteng.gpg.gov.za to check for other learning centres nearest to them. - SAnews.gov.za
