Pretoria - The Department of Labour is this morning set to release its preliminary report into the M1 bridge collapse.

The support structure of a pedestrian bridge under construction, which runs along the M1 across Grayston Drive, collapsed on October 14.

Two people died and more than 20 others were injured.

The construction company responsible for the bridge, Murray and Roberts, is still investigating the cause of the collapse.

It appointed technical, engineering, legal and forensic specialists to probe the incident.

The City of Johannesburg has also launched its own investigations into the bridge collapse.

It is not clear when they will release their reports. - SAnews.gov.za
