Pretoria - The Department of Labour is to host a Hazardous Biological Agents (HBA) seminar to promote Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) in the South African health sector.
The seminar will be held as part of ongoing advocacy to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation. It will be held under the theme ‘Improving OHS in the Health Sector’ from 11-12 November 2015.
On 10 November, there will be a training session for shop stewards focusing on the OHS Act and its regulations.
The seminar is expected to be addressed by the Department of Labour Deputy Director-General of Inspection and Enforcement Services, Aggy Moiloa; Department of Labour Chief Inspector Tibor Szana; Department of Labour Chief Director: Provincial Operations (KwaZulu-Natal) Thembi Nene-Shezi; Acting Chief Director: Statutory and Advocacy Services Fikiswa Mncanca, and Department of Labour Director: Occupational Health and Hygiene (OHH) Milly Ruiters.
Key topics for discussions will focus on OHS inspection feedback, health risk assessment, medical surveillance and biological monitoring, TB and HIV in the health care sector and waste management in public hospitals. – SAnews.gov.za
