Pretoria - The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government has expressed shock and sadness at the sudden death of Inkosi Prince Nkosiyesizwe Gcumisa who died in car accident on Friday.

“We are all in a state of shock as this untimely death has robbed us of an important pillar in the community of KwaSwayimane and within the institution of traditional leadership in our province” said KZN Premier Senzo Mchunu. Reacting to the news, Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube said the tragic death came at a time when the community of KwaSwayimane had recently lost the lives of two young women who were killed in a lightning strike at their homes last Monday.

Inkosi Gcumisa had been instrumental in the efforts to assist these families and we are all lost for words at his tragic death.  "We will remember Inkosi Gcumisa as one of those traditional leaders who was passionate about development and ensuring that his community get access to government services. His warmth and friendliness will be greatly missed and the institution of traditional leadership will be much poorer without his stature,” said MEC Dube-Ncube.

“The Provincial Government has extended its heartfelt condolences to the family, the community and we assure them of our support as they go through this difficult time. “Our prayers are with the family and we pray that the Lord may give them the strength to carry through this difficult time,” Premier Mchunu concluded.
