Human Settlements Minister, Mmamoloko Kubayi, will visit the Limpopo province today where she will conduct on-site inspections of various housing projects.
“During the visit, Minister Kubayi is expected to handover housing units and title deeds as well as do site inspections at different housing projects- including serviced sites for human settlements developments and Financed Linked Individual Subsidy Programme (FLISP),” said the Department of Human Settlements.
The Minister will also receive a briefing from the Limpopo Department of Human Settlements on the progress to achieve its housing delivery target for 2021/2022 financial year.
Kubayi is also expected to be appraised on areas that require her interventions, such as blocked and delayed housing projects, which have led to the slow delivery of houses in the province.
“Over the past week, the Minister has been to five provinces, namely KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng, Eastern Cape, Free State and Northern Cape. What has come up at these recent visits is an urgency to accelerate housing delivery, while ensuring that contractors deliver quality work, on time and within the set budget,” the department said in a statement ahead of her two-day visit.
The Limpopo provincial department has since 1994 delivered over 200 000 housing opportunities, and these include housing units and serviced sites.
Minister Kubayi will be accompanied by, amongst others, the Deputy Minister of Human Settlements Pam Tshwete, and Limpopo MEC of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs, Basikopo Makamu. – SAnews.gov.za
