HIV/AIDS expo opens in Johannesburg

Pretoria- An HIV/AIDS Expo, which aims to encourage the spirit of a caring community by reinforcing the values of Ubuntu, gets off in Johannesburg on Monday.

The three day expo, which will be held under the theme, We live, We love, siyaphila, is expected to be officially opened by Gauteng MEC for Health and Social Development, Qedani Mahlangu.

The Expo will also seek to encourage the culture of reaching out to those affected and infected by the disease.

In addition to showcasing the work done by civil society, public and private sectors on HIV/AIDS, there will be dialogues, music and voluntary counselling and testing.

On day one of the expo, there will be a youth dialogue on teen pregnancy and HIV/AIDS, a dialogue on people with multiple concurrent partners, a couple's dialogue on voluntary counselling and testing to encourage couples to know their status and a general public testing facility.

On World Aids Day, there will be cultural activities such as drama, poetry, arts and craft exhibition and traditional music.

The expo will end with a one love concert, where gospel, jazz, hip-hop and kwaito artists will perform.
