Government has wished all Grade 12 learners well as they commence with their 2018 final examinations today.
The 2018 National Senior Certificate final examinations started today with 37 340 Grade 12 learners across the country sitting for the first paper of Computer Applications Technology.
“Grade 12 examinations are critical in deciding the future of the learners. Therefore, it is prudent for the learners to dedicate more time to their studies and we urge learners to remain focused and to give their best at this critical phase of their education,” said acting Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) Director-General Phumla Williams on Monday.
Williams encouraged learners to refrain from the use of social media during this crucial period and rather dedicate their time to their studies.
“Government believes that parents and guardians have a significant role to play in creating a supportive environment that will be conducive for learners to study,” said Williams.
The Department of Basic Education said it has put in place extra safety measures to prevent the leaking of question papers.
Williams called on society to rally behind Grade 12 learners.
She further reminded matriculants of the opportunities provided by technical and vocational education and training colleges and other vocational training centres. – SAnews.gov.za
