Pretoria - Gauteng Social Development MEC Nandi Mayathula-Khoza says more than half of the outstanding payments to Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs), funded by the Gauteng Provincial Government, were processed for payment on Tuesday.

Making the announcement on Wednesday, MEC Mayathula-Khoza said her department is expecting around 2 782 Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for all the programmes, with 1 430 having been signed and received back in the department.

“As of [Tuesday], 1 144 SLAs have been processed for payment, with the first tranche payment dates being from 10 to 15 May 2017. The other 286 are in the payment process and the payments thereof will be in NGO bank accounts on or before 19 May 2017,” said MEC Mayathula-Khoza.

The MEC said she was pleased with the progress made, as it strengthened the department’s partnership with the NPO sector.

“Our partnership with the NPO sector is extremely vital in delivering the much needed services to the communities of Gauteng. I am pleased that we have done our best to minimise disruptions in the sector,” said MEC Mayathula-Khoza. - SAnews.gov.za
